He is a NSW Law Society accredited mediator under the national AMDRAS* accreditation standards and has combined qualifications in civil engineering and law. His extensive experience encompasses:
- As a Building and Construction Lawyer at a national firm, he advised on the range of standard form contracts, managed Security of Payment claims, and managed litigation for principals, contractors, and insurers.
- As a member of the NSW Fair Trading Tribunal (now known as the Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT)), he conciliated and determined hundreds of residential building disputes under the Home Building Act 1989 (NSW).
- Acting as a mediator for the former Queensland Building Tribunal.
- As Infrastructure Director, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, he established and managed the $700 million transport infrastructure program, done under Australia's Overseas Development Assistance Program (PNG).
- As Director Property Management, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, he managed DFAT's domestic property estate through an extensive program of leasing and office fitouts.
- As Principal Legal Officer for the Department of Defence, he advised on multi-billion dollar defence systems acquisition and sustainment programs, including under performance-based and relationship contracting models.
- As an International Trade Lawyer, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, he managed various Commonwealth WTO disputes and advised on established and proposed Free Trade Agreements.
